Microsoft has issued a new announcement on their official website, in which they present a number of new details about Internet Explorer 11.

According to the announcement, Microsoft will use the Microsoft Edge update to deliver a patch that will remove Internet Explorer. The update is scheduled to be presented on February 14, 2023, and Microsoft hopes that this update, it will help organizations ensure a smoother and easier transition from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge.

"The retired, out-of-support Internet Explorer 11 desktop application is scheduled to be permanently disabled through a Microsoft Edge update on certain versions of Windows 10 on February 14, 2023," Microsoft wrote on the Internet Explorer 11 desktop app retirement FAQ page.

With this update, all devices that are not yet ready to switch from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge will begin the transition automatically.

"All remaining devices that have not yet been redirected from IE11 to Microsoft Edge are scheduled to be redirected on February 14, 2023," Microsoft said.

Although the transition from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge began several months ago, there are still many devices that require it, so Microsoft does not automatically switch all websites opened on the Internet to Microsoft Edge, and you can still use Internet Explorer in Windows 11 with a few tweaks.

Every time you open a website in the Internet Explorer browser after February 14, 2023, you will be redirected to Microsoft Edge Chromium, and on June 13, 2023, all visual references such as icons in the start menu, taskbar, and others will begin to be removed from the operating system.

"IE11 visual references, such as the IE11 icons on the Start Menu and taskbar, will be removed by the June 2023 Windows security update ("B" release) scheduled for June 13, 2023."
