Windows 11 Insider Dev Build 25262 is now available from Microsoft.

Microsoft recently released a new Windows 11 build for Windows Insider Dev Channel users, with the build number 25262 and a number of improvements.

There are quite a few improvements that are presented themselves, whereas there are two feature enhancements noted by Microsoft's official page, where one of them has now come to an increase in Widgets, where Microsoft has now eliminated the sign-in requirements for the Widget Board, wherewith that you can pin Apps, or access personalized dynamic feeds without having to log in first.

Quick Assist is also now available at the bottom of the Settings > System > Troubleshooters page.

Of course, in addition to these two points, there are numerous improvements presented, including:

  • After upgrading to Build 25252, explorer.exe would crash in a loop if the Widgets app package was missing on your PC. This is also thought to be the reason why Windows Sandbox isn't working in this build.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented certain Insiders from viewing secondary drives or other PCI devices.
  • With the system tray design updates, auto-hiding the taskbar stopped working after you interacted with the hidden icons flyout.
  • On secondary monitors, an issue that caused a gap between full-screen windows and the taskbar has been resolved.
  • The system tray area should no longer shift as time changes.
  • The top half of the media controls in Quick Settings were occasionally missing due to a bug.
  • We fixed the issue where you had to press backspace after typing to see results for files ending in.cmd,.exe, or .bat.
  • In some cases, the performance of launching the search window has been improved.

The fixes are only for Windows Insiders who received one of the different treatment options for how search appears on the taskbar, which began rolling out to Insiders with Build 25252:

  • Fixed an issue where the search box did not appear as expected on multiple monitors when clicked on either one.
  • When you clicked the search box on the taskbar, the search box would briefly flash before the Search flyout appeared.
  • When dragging a window to a lower DPI monitor, your mouse may appear to jump away from the window it was holding.
  • Fixed an issue that caused explorer.exe to crash when opening certain items from File Explorer's Recent section.
  • The network venue should no longer be displayed unexpectedly on certain entries in the Wi-Fi section of Quick Settings.
  • The graphs on the performance page of Task Manager may no longer update (even if the real-time update speed setting is not paused).
  • When using the light mode, the Microsoft Account sign-in window should no longer have an unexpectedly black title bar.
  • If you are using the Wireless Display feature and have not yet enabled input, the text has been adjusted to guide you to the correct location.

So, for you Windows Insider Dev Channel users, you can now get this build by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates, and then downloading Windows 11 Insider Dev Build 25262 from there.
